PRTG Database Observer: database monitoring tool for extended database support  

Paessler PRTG Database Observer (formerly PRTG DB Plugin by Corp-IT) is a separately licensed product extension of the monitoring software Paessler PRTG. It extends the native database monitoring functionality of PRTG by also supporting SAP and IBM databases, for example. Predefined SQL queries that you can use for setting up custom PRTG sensors help you get deep insights into the health and performance of your database servers. You can only use the extension together with an active PRTG Network Monitor or PRTG Enterprise Monitor subscription or a perpetual PRTG Network Monitor license with active maintenance.

Paessler PRTG Database Observer offers a free 30-day trial that includes all features of the product extension. If your trial period expires, you need to purchase a subscription of PRTG Database Observer. You can upgrade to a paid subscription anytime.

In PRTG, “sensors” are the basic monitoring elements. One sensor usually monitors one measured value in your network, for example the traffic of a switch port, the CPU load of a server, or the free space on a disk drive. 

On average, you need about 5-10 sensors per device or one sensor per switch port.
